Kathleen K. Dong, Esq

Kathleen K. Dong is a practical, detail-oriented, compassionate, and client-focused family law attorney. From her honest initial client assessments to her persistence in getting to harmonious resolution, she expertly helps her clients end their relationship as peacefully and respectfully as possible, for the highest good of all involved.

“I don’t nurture fights,” Kathleen often states. “I advocate for long term co-functional parenting in support of healthy families.”  Deftly navigating situations such as high-earner disputes, complex marital dissolution, and domestic violence cases,  Kathleen seeks to focus on the victories, rather than on the losses. The colorful poster in her office of a petite Ruth Bader Ginsburg wearing boxing gloves speaks volumes about her values and leadership in the practice of family law.

Kathleen received her law degree from Lincoln Law School of San Jose with honors, and earned the Susan O. Fish award in 2016 for outstanding scholarship and significant contributions to the law school community.  Mother to four adult daughters, she has a passion for childrens’ rights and fostering healthy families, and acts as minors’ counsel in the Family Court of Santa Clara County.

In her off-hours, Kathleen enjoys watching thriller/horror movies, playing with the family’s two cats and two dogs, and spending time with the love of her life, her husband of 28 years.

What Our Clients Say About Us

Kathleen was absolutely incredible. I was not in a great place when I went to her for a move away case, but she was very patient and clearly explained all of my options. She was considerate of my needs and challenges. Halfway through the case the other parent hired an attorney who was an absolute nightmare. He kept calling and emailing trying to find new problems and ways to spend his retainer. Kathleen did not allow his unethical behaviors to tarnish our relationship. While attorneys are not cheap by any means, Kathleen was not just out to make money. She worked diligently with me and helped me find the best resolution. You will not find a more caring and understanding attorney. I hope I never need a family law attorney again, but if I do I won't hesitate to call Kathleen.

I consulted Kathleen in an emergency situation. She was prompt, diligent and incredibly compassionate. She is also very down to earth and relates to you as a human being. It is evident this is not just a source of income or a job to her, but that she genuinely cares. I think this is a hard combo to find. I am extremely grateful for her services and I highly recommend her.

Her counsel got me back on track when I was feeling frustrated. Kathleen is thorough and worked hard on my case. If you are looking for a family attorney, look no further!

My divorce was a very complicated case. That's why I hired Kathleen Dong to assist me with my divorce process. She is very attentive, experienced and quick to resolve the issues I needed handled all the time. She helped me get through a very difficult time in my life. If you want to find a high net worth divorce attorney, I always recommend her to anyone. Go with Kathleen. You won't be disappointed.

Oh my, where do I even begin. I think the universe was definitely in my favor when I found Kathleen. I found Kathleen while searching on Yelp for a child custody attorney and immediately sent her a message after reading a couple reviews. She responded quickly and asked me to send her our current custody agreement to review. We set up a call the following day before she told me she was on vacation! That was a great sign! At the end of our call I told her that I really needed a lawyer that believes in me and won't leave me on read. She didn't disappoint me at all. I've never needed a lawyer before but Kathleen was exactly the kind of lawyer I needed on my side. She was attentive, never too busy for me and most importantly, helpful every step of the way. Kathleen is experienced, determined, honest, patient, caring and professional. She was a beacon of hope to my case at a time when my options appeared limited and the likelihood of a satisfactory resolution seemed near impossible. Not only was she able to help me understand the paperwork that I was served, her calm and empathetic demeanor offered emotional support to myself and those I care about most. My daughter and I hereby recommend Ms. Dong without reservation. Thank you Kathleen!

Going through child custody battles is a very stressful and difficult situation. The process is very complex and confusing, with endless paperwork. It was frustrating. I turned to Kathleen for help and she was able to make things much easier for me. I was able to get my son back. She guided me through every step of the way. She was professional, organized and most importantly caring. Her knowledge and experience is what I needed during the whole process. Without her, I would have been lost.

Kathleen helped me get through one of the hardest, most trying times in my life. I don't know how I could have done it without her. She was very clear and open about the process and always had me prepared for the next step. She really cares. It felt like she was working for me and not the bottom line of a big firm. If you're looking for an experience divorced attorney who will have your back, I'd highly recommend you hire Kathleen Dong.
